Sunflower: Improving root uptakes on fields in Turkey

This application was carried out on a 1.9 ha field of Corteva Company’s Bergama/Izmir. Sunflower seed production areas. Flobond LX50 Anti-salt and Flobond DI2010 WaterSaver were applied on the same field.
The purpose of this application is to start the application with Flobond LX50 to strengthen the root zone then to continue with Flobond DI2010 to keep the root area moist during the pollination period.

METHODOLOGY

  • Field: 3,8 ha – Application area : 1.9 ha
  • Dosage: 13 kg/ha Flobond LX50 Anti-salt + 3 x 13 kg/ha Flobond DI2010 Water Saver
  • Sandy Soil
  • Sowing: May
  • Harvest: 2023, September 12th
On the photo above, on the right, we clearly see the upper leaves are upright thanks to more water available with FLOBOND
Given the very good results of that experiment, Corteva has decided to extend the use of FLOBOND in their grower’s fields. Then, this proof of efficiency has been followed by capacitive probes moisture/EC, the charts are available on the VERSO.

Conclusion

We can notice that both soil salinity and soil moisture content were improved in that proof of efficiency.
The water spreading thoughout the soil is much better with FLOBOND and consequently, the salts are leached in a bigger soil volume, so the salinity per layer decrease mechanically (being pushed away by water).
